Markers in the tide

$2,500.00

Markers in the tide is a finalist piece on the Estuary art & ecology award currently on show at Uxbridge Art centre in Howick.

It explores the layered stillness of the Tāmaki Estuary, where sky, land, and water fold into one another. This painting reflects on the subtle presence of time—tides shifting, clouds rolling, the estuary reshaping itself in quiet rhythms.

The small rock formations punctuate this expanse as geological witnesses—markers of memory and movement. These outcrops are more than physical features; they ground the ephemeral, tracing the estuary’s ecological complexity and resilience.

This work invites a deeper noticing of the in-between: the liminal zones where salt meets silt, air meets water, and the natural world moves in cycles of renewal. As urban pressures mount, these estuarine spaces call for attention and care.
